Wallschlaeger Weekly
Dear First GradeParents, Feb. 7, 2022
Feb. 14th is our Valentine’s Party. Students will be exchanging Valentine cards and playing games in the afternoon. The students will also get to hear the story of Saint Valentine. In order to help you with Valentine cards, I have listed the names of students at the bottom of the parent letter to help you fill out cards. Some students like to put the names of each student on the cards and some just put from, and their name on the card. Remember you don’t need to make a Valentine box to hold the cards. We will be decorating our boxes this week in Art class.
I would like to have the First Graders make musical instruments and bring them into class. These instruments do not have to be elaborate, expensive or time consuming. I want the students to make them (not parents). The only requirement is that they do need to make a sound. We will be using them for rhythm activities during Music class.
Have your child gather discarded items from around the house like paper towel rolls, plastic bottles, empty cereal containers, paper plates etc. Then have them use their imagination to create a rhythm instrument that will make an interesting sound. We will use the instruments in music class to create a praise band. Please have your child bring their instruments to school by next Wednesday, Feb. 16th. Please have your child keep their instrument home until the 16th. Students get excited and want to play them at random times during the day. Please sign up for a teacher conference if you haven’t already. Have a great week!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Wallschlaeger
