Christian Education

Immanuel Lutheran School is a private Christian school in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The school has existed for 100 years and was founded as a mission of Immanuel Lutheran Church in 1924.  The school first began in a home and campus buildings were added over the years between 1930-1960 and in the 2000s. Immanuel Lutheran Preschool began operation in 2000.

WHAT WE BELIEVE:

The Church and School are part of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod, which is founded on the following beliefs:

With the universal Christian Church, The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod teaches and responds to the love of the Triune God:

the Father, creator of all that exists;
Jesus Christ, the Son, who became human to suffer and die for the sins of all human beings and to rise to life again in the ultimate victory over death and Satan; and
the Holy Spirit, who creates faith through God’s Word and Sacraments.

The three persons of the Trinity are coequal and coeternal, one God.

WHAT IS A LUTHERAN?

Being Lutheran means we accept and preach the Bible-based teachings of Martin Luther that inspired the reformation of the Christian Church in the 16th century. The teaching of Luther and the reformers can be summarized in three phrases: Grace alone, Faith alone, Scripture alone.

DO I HAVE TO BE A LUTHERAN TO ATTEND ILS?

Students and families do not have to be Lutheran to attend Immanuel Lutheran School, though we are always welcoming new members to our church. Students will be taught Lutheran theology, will attend chapel services every week, and regular weekly church attendance to the congregation of their choice is strongly encouraged to all of our students and families.
