January 25-29!

Wallschlaeger’s Weekly

                                                                                      January 25, 2021

Dear First Grade Parents,

This Thursday is the 100 day of school.  I would like the students to create a piece of art out of 100 objects.  (Some students have already turned in their assignment). Some examples are posters made with 100 pieces of small objects like cereal, M&M’s, pennies, paper clips, Legos etc.  It can be a 2 or 3 dimensional work of art that will be displayed outside of our classroom. The purpose of this assignment is to help students understand the concept of 100.  Also, on the 100 day, students are welcome (but not required) to dress up to look like they are 100 years old.

This week in Bible Class we will be studying Jesus’ early ministry. Our first stories are Jesus’ baptism and then His calling of disciples. We continue studying occupations in Social Studies.  I would like to thank the parents who wrote a description of their jobs.  We have had great discussions on the reports that came in. In Science we will begin a new unit on matter.  We will be studying the properties of solids, liquids, and gas.

This week’s Spelling words are a little harder than usual. The words all have the same middle sound, but the vowels are all different. Please have your child spend a little more time studying this week.

Book orders are due this Wed. if you are interested in ordering books. Have a great week!
