Summer Panther Tales

Hope you are having a great summer! Just a few reminders…

Family Orientation Meetings: Teachers will soon be calling or emailing you to set up Family Orientation Meetings for the 2017-2018 school year. The Family Orientation Meeting provides our ILS families with important information about the upcoming school year. They also allow the teachers the opportunity to share their goals and expectations for the class and provide parents with an opportunity to ask any questions they might have about curriculum, classroom management, or class activities. Remember that these meetings can be held either at your home or at school, you can choose. One additional reminder Mrs. Frerichs and Mrs. Cotter due to their circumstances may not be contacting you in the very near future.

Immanuel Workday: Our annual end of summer work day is coming up Saturday, August 5 from 8:00-12:00. We need help with everything from cleaning classrooms, painting, cleaning chairs and tables, washing windows, cleaning up the grounds, as well as some classroom repairs. We encourage all our ILS families to join us for this very important activity plus you get a free lunch! Again, that is Saturday, August 5.

Back to School Night: Our annual Back to School Night is scheduled for from 5:00-8:00. This is an opportunity for students to drop off their school supplies, see their classroom, and ask any last minute questions. At 6:00 pm we will all meet in the gym for a potluck and fellowship. We ask all our returning families to bring a main dish and a salad or desert. Our new families are just asked to bring themselves, so we can welcome them to the ILS family. Drinks, plates, utensils, and paper products will be provided. Please plan on joining us.

Website Update: Mrs. Tara Gohr our volunteer website manager is working on updating the information on the website this summer. She is also working with one of her colleagues to implement a new format that we hope will be easier to navigate. We want to thank Tara for all of her hard work.

Library: Our new volunteer librarian Mrs. Dawn Osborn has been busy this summer reorganizing the school library to make it more user friendly especially for the little ones. If you would like to help with this project, or with painting and cleaning in the library, you can contact her by email at or by phone at 323-5010. We want to thank Dawn for all the hours she put in this summer.

Childcare: We congratulate Mrs. Emily Cotter and her husband Dustin on the birth of their new baby boy Silas. He has had some issues with his oxygen levels so we continue to pray for them. She and Dustin are looking for someone that would be willing to provide childcare for the baby beginning in August. If you know of someone or would be willing to do this yourself please contact the school office at 243-2589.

Basketball Camp: We are currently offering a basketball camp for ILS students every Friday in the month of July from 10:00 am till 2:00 pm. in the gym. The cost of the camp is $40 please have your child bring a lunch. If you have any questions about the camp contact, Ms. Kelley in the school office at 243-2589 or by email at

2017-2018 Registration: Have you turned in your 2017-2018 registration paperwork yet? We have a number of families who have not submitted that paperwork as of today. We need to know if your child will be returning so we can plan for next year. We also have a number of families who have outstanding accounts, and those need to be taken care of. If you have an outstanding account your child will not receive their report card.

Summer Letter: If you did not receive the summer letter via email please contact the school office and we will mail one out to you. If have any questions about the information in the summer mailing, please, contact Ms. Kelley in the school office 243-2589. One correction to the calendar Registration Day runs from 7:30-12:30 not 7:00-12:00.

Spread the Word: ILS families are our best advertisement! If you know of a family that is interested in having their child receive at quality Christian education, encourage them to find out more about Immanuel Lutheran School. We would be glad to give them a tour provide them with a packet of information and answer any questions they might have. Remember if you recommend a family and they enroll you can receive a 25% discount in your tuition for the upcoming school year. Let’s get the word out about ILS!

National Lutheran Schools Accreditation: We are starting preparations to go through the accreditation process during the 2017-2018 school year. As a part of that process we will be reviewing and assessing all aspects of the school program. There are seven separate areas we will evaluate and rate. We are in need of parents and congregation members to serve on subcommittees or the steering committee for this process. If you would be interested in serving please contact Mr. Angell at or 243-2589.
