Battle of the Books
Battle of the Books is a voluntary reading incentive program for students in grades 3-12. The purpose is simply to encourage students to read good books and have fun while competing with peers. Learn more at America’s Battle of the Books.

National History Day
Immanuel’s 7th grade class participates in NHD, however it is open to any students in grades 6, 7, or 8. Immanuel’s NHD coach is Mr. Pflieger. The themes change annually, and you can learn more at NHD.org.
The Science Bowl is a Jeopardy-like event for middle school students who have a strong interest and academic ability in mathematics and science. The Science Bowl competition is in the form of a round robin in the morning and double elimination after lunch. Teams consist of four students and one optional alternative team member. The National Science Bowl rules, brochure, information, resources, including sample questions, forms for coaches, students, etc., are located online.
